A New Year of Learning and Exchange

We start 5786 on a hopeful note. After a successful s Summer School in collaboration with the University of Vienna, introducing over 25 students to Yiddish language thorough language classes, seminars, a cabaret evening with Mendy Cahan and Katja Kuznetsova, a Hasidic dance workshop with Eli Benedict, a film night with panel discussion involving the American director Perl Gluck, independent film maker Klara Trencsenyi and Orthodox rabbinical scholar Miriam Camerini, ending with a celebratory dinner welcoming the Shabbat,

this autumn we have had two book launch events by local writer Thomas Soxberger on his new German-language book on Yiddish press in Vienna and by London-based scholars Vivi Lachs and Barry Smerin on their book on the Jewish East End.
