Lomir tantsn! - Yiddish dance workshop with Pieter Sint Nicolaas and Rosamond van Wingerden
In this approximately 90-minute dance workshop, we’ll learn the steps and figures of traditional Yiddish group dances, including the freylekhs, the Yiddish hora/zhok, the honga, and the bulgar. As well as dance steps, we’ll learn about typical Yiddish style and gesture. Then we’ll explore the art of Yiddish solo dance through the khosidl, an improvised dance deeply rooted in a vocabulary of Yiddish gestures. No experience necessary, and all levels and backgrounds welcome!
Tickets: €18 (€15 for YYW members; under 18 FREE) payable on the door. RSVP is obligatory and IDs will be checked on the door.
