About the event

6:30PM start, doors open at 6:15PM

Why do we celebrate shabbat? Why do we light candles? What does it mean to be at rest? What does it mean that a week is complete? What is shabbat today for Jews and non-Jews? Come, ask, learn and experience.

The festival week slowly draws to a close where Yiddish culture is alive: with a communal Shabbat evening at YUNG YiDiSH VIENNA. Together with Mendy Cahan, we celebrate a traditional Farbrengen – with a Shabbat meal, songs, nigunim, and stories amidst old Yiddish books. As Shabbat begins, we sing, eat, and celebrate together.

After dinner, the evening opens up to a jam session:

bring your instrument, join in, and play Klezmer together – completely relaxed and open to everyone who wants to participate or simply listen. Lomir shpiln Klezmer

Pre-registration is obligatory and ID's will be checked on the door for security reasons.
