About the event

Duo Lejtsim is a klezmer duo with Josef Lackner on clarinet and Günther Schöller on accordion. ('Lets' (pl. leytsem) is a Yiddish word for a clown, a jester or a joker. )

Both musicians are fascinated by recordings of klezmer music from the Golden Era of Yiddish music in the first half of the 20th century in America. In their program they perform rare gems from 78 rpm records as well as music from the collection of the late German Goldenshteyn, a clarinetist from Bessarabia (Moldova) who emigrated to New York in the 1990s bringing a beautiful repertoire of klezmer tunes with him.
