This concert takes audiences on a journey through Sephardic and Yiddish song, two traditions rooted in different geographies and languages yet united by their profound poetic and emotional richness.
Soprano Yasmin Garfunkel, a renowned singer, educator, and researcher specializing in Yiddish language and culture, and pianist Silvia Gerszkowicz, creator of the Romanzas Trío and a distinguished performer of the Sephardic tradition, come from Buenos Aires to present a chamber music recital with focus primarily on Sephardic music, complemented by a carefully curated selection of Yiddish songs.
The repertoire brings together songs of love and heartbreak, lullabies, songs of exile and displacement, as well as folk compositions and works by some of the great authors of Yiddish literature.
It is an invitation to discover, through music, the dialogue between Ashkenazi and Sephardic traditions and the enduring vitality of a cultural heritage that continues to move audiences today.
